Seasons change but so do we!

Today we are grateful to be celebrating the 1 year milestone of our Lethbridge Centre becoming a part of the Fresh Start family.

Over the last year we have seen much growth inside and out from renovations to the facility’s exterior, new siding, roof, stairs and even adding 2 auxiliary buildings. During the summer the residents enjoyed walks on the 7 acre property and games of volleyball on the outdoor courts taking full advantage of the beautiful countryside space. Inside the facility we shifted from an original 19 men’s and 4 women’s beds and we now have 13 men’s and 10 women’s beds that continue to house new groups graduating the program to become alumni and continue the connection to the house and support the new men and women starting group.

The atmosphere is electric and the amazing staff have embraced the change and have become a unified group with Calgary and Lethbridge working hand in hand making this an exciting time to be a part of the growing Fresh Start Movement! The Alumni have also combined to build stronger relationships between the two centres and our ambassadors back in community. With the shift to virtual it has been much easier to be able to tune into the celebrations together showing solidarity across Southern Alberta.

Our nationally recognized treatment program offers an individual approach to recovery. There is no one size fits all treatment. Our 14-16-week program includes individual counseling, group facilitated treatment/healing, fitness, balanced nutritional meals and an opportunity to build and enhance recovery capital.

The peer support component of our program runs parallel to our core treatment model of integrated chronic care. We employ the 12 Step abstinence model of recovery as our base for treatment and this is supported within a bio-psycho-social model of therapy.

It is said that our recovery is based on the daily maintenance of our spiritual program. The 12-step model for addiction treatment and recovery is the program designed to help us achieve that daily maintenance. The steps are a step-by-step process that lays out a design for living life on life’s terms clean and sober.

Once again congratulations to the Staff, Residents, Alumni and Community partners for coming together over this past year to make this transition such a great success!  and thank you to Parallel Church as they have been so gracious as to provide an amazing space for Birthday and Gratitude ceremonies for Alumni, Family and Community partners to celebrate recovery together.

Here’s to what the next year has in store!

Mission Fit

Ron Jarrett, owner of Mission Fitness is what a committed and helpful community partner is all about. He trains the clients in the house weekly and believes that true strength and progress can only be made from a solid foundation.  That foundation includes alignment, mobility and stability, and must address any muscular imbalances, weaknesses and lack of connection.  Achieving this level means the body is able to progress safely without fear of injury. www.missionfit.ca
