At Fresh Start we know that recovery is possible not only for the person with the disease of addiction, but also for the family, friends and community who also suffer from the effects of this chronic illness. You will have an opportunity to learn more about how the disease has been affecting you and discover new solutions that start with your healing. You will be given an opportunity to explore and learn more about several topics which include but are not limited to:
- The disease of addiction
- Family roles and systems
- Letting go
- The grieving process
- Guilt vs shame
- Helping vs enabling
- Introduction to 12 step programs
- Gratitude and forgiveness
This program has been developed with the knowledge that the disease of addiction is systemic in nature and that it can potentially affect a person’s quality of life as well as those close to them.
Please know that The Family Healing Program is available to any man, woman, or family member that presently has or ever has been affected by someone else's addiction. This is open to anyone not just for the families involved with someone that has a loved one in our treatment program.
Our program runs for five consecutive weeks in the evening from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Please see event calender for next scheduled group start dates.
We have worked hard to make our programming available to everyone. Payment for the program is available on a sliding scale with the base cost of the program being $100.00. Financial assistance may be granted to those in need.
Monthly contact and additional counseling is available for those who wish to continue. We also encourage all FHP alumni to be part of our weekly FHP Alumni meetings. See event schedule for times and dates.
The Family Healing Program is made possible in part through funding from The Government of Alberta’s Community Initiatives Operating Grant Program.
