An excellent program. Thank you for helping me understand the importance of boundaries and consequences. This has also changed my son's attitude towards me. He has found out I now will enforce the boundaries and he better understands the consequences because of it.

The Fresh Start Family Healing Program

For every single person with an addiction that struggles with the disease, there is a also a multitude of people that are also suffering. The torture of helplessly watching the erosion of a loved one’s life is devastating. If you have a person with a substance use disorder in your life, you likely know the feelings of helplessness, despair, and resentment. The good news is; you don’t have to live in the shadow of addiction. Our Family Healing Program (FHP) helps those who are closely associated with someone who is in their addiction (or recovery) deal with the effects of addiction on them and learn how to live in recovery also. Our FHP runs over a five week period, one night a week.

calendarNext program date is:

November 1, 2018 – November 29, 2018

It is imperative to attend all five weeks in order to be given all of the information, if you are willing to make this commitment please contact Jennifer at 403-387-6266 ext 541 to register or for more information. Program is held at Fresh Start 411-41 Ave, NE. Parking is available in the front and back of the building.

We Provide

At Fresh Start we know that recovery is possible not only for the person with the disease of addiction, but also for the family, friends and community who also suffer from the effects of this chronic illness.  You will have an opportunity to learn more about how the disease has been affecting you and discover new solutions that start with your healing.  You will be given an opportunity to explore and learn more about several topics which include but are not limited to:

  • The disease of addiction
  • Family roles and systems
  • Codependency
  • Boundaries
  • Letting go
  • The grieving process
  • Guilt vs shame
  • Helping vs enabling
  • Introduction to 12 step programs
  • Gratitude and forgiveness

This program has been developed with the knowledge that the disease of addiction is systemic in nature and that it can potentially affect a person’s quality of life as well as those close to them.

Our tag line is “Eat Good. Do Good” and that is exactly what our social enterprise food truck and soon to be café is doing. Serving up recovery themed items such as “The Dr. Bob (bacon burger) and The Bill Wilson (cheeseburger)” named after Alcoholics Anonymous’ founders; when you eat here you are doing more than just purchasing a meal, you could be saving a life.  The food truck is part of a social enterprise project under Fresh Start Recovery Centre's umbrella with all profits generated going back into helping more men and families get well from the disease of addiction.

Tuesday I became a dad.  Yesterday was my one year anniversary with my amazing and supportive wife.  Today is my first Father's  Day with our five day old baby girl Zoey and on Tuesday we will be purchasing a condo in Hawaii (yes Hawaii) where we moved a few months ago.  To say my life is a miracle is an understatement; and with the gift I have an opportunity to share it with others in hopes of helping, inspiring,or perhaps creating a little more ease in ones life.  If you are struggling - I get it. I did too.  For most of my life.  What I know is that you have to want this.  With a true desire to change your life, a support system and a higher power - you can and will get better.  I offer you how i worked the steps as you must do the work also to get better.  Faith without works in dead.
