Fresh Start Recovery Centre delivers SROI beyond 23:1

Success Markets

In 2013 Success Markets Inc. (SMI) – a Washington, DC research group – conducted an extensive study of Fresh Start’s impact on the community and found Fresh Start’s addiction recovery program to be ‘highly effective.’

“We recently revised all estimates for consistency and have found that Fresh Start’s limits have increased from a Lower Bound (LB 17) and Upper Bound (UB 29) to an LB 22 and UB 43 so while a SROI of around 23 is still valid a Best Estimate (BE 31) is probably a more accurate estimation.

Donations to Fresh Start Recovery Centre’s (FS) drug and alcohol recovery programs are exceptionally effective in helping men and their families facing the dire consequences of addiction begin recovery and successfully regain control of their lives. While an agency of last resort for many, FS has proven highly successful in helping even long-time addicts regain sobriety. For example, 51% of men who completed a FS program in 2014 celebrated a year of post-treatment sobriety in 2015; this compares very favourably with national rates of 5% to 10% in Canada.”

As many of you know, we have started our social enterprise venture by joining the ranks of the awesome food trucks here in Calgary.   We are kicking off our first full season and would like to give our supporters the first opportunity at booking us.  Last year we served at many private events as well as workplace lunch and learns. This is a great way to introduce your coworkers and community to the gifts of recovery and the Fresh Start movement.  They will be able to enjoy a recovery themed meal and they will know that when they eat with us, they are DOING GOOD with all profits helping more men and families get well.

The journey of addiction IS someone’s dark night of the soul… the journey of recovery asks us all to cast a light upon the silence, the shame and the stigma... and that takes courage.  We need you and your support to courageously shine the light. You have an opportunity to cast out the darkness.  You have an opportunity to be someone for someone.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Family Healing Program Alumni Meeting

Jun-20-2019
7:00 PM – 8:00 PM

411 41st Ave NE

This is a weekly meeting on Thursday evenings from 7-8pm at Fresh Start.  This meeting is open to anyone who has completed the Family Healing program.

Alumni meetings are another tool to support the ongoing recovery of Alumni.  They serve as a bridge for the new members during the transition from attending group to life in their own homes and community.  For a newcomer in the FHP relationships to a group of people who share a common experience can be a key element to making that transition as smooth as possible.  These relationships foster a sense of unity, community, and belonging.  Having said that, this group will work most effectively with your help through attendance, chairing the meetings, being part of a planning committee and eventually creating an alumni board.    For more details please contact jennifer@freshstartrecovery.ca
